Compounder

If you have a knack for measurements and an eye for detail, working as a compounder could be a great option. Responsibilities include measuring, mixing, and packaging rubber/chemical compounds for top manufacturers in the region. Akron has a long history of rubber manufacturing, and positions may involve working with polymers or plastics. This role requires physical strength, including the ability to routinely lift 50 pounds.

Machine Operator

As a machine operator, your role may vary depending on the employer, but typically involves setting up, operating, and maintaining machines to ensure they’re producing high-quality products. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring that the machines are stocked with the necessary materials. Prior experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments is often preferred for non-entry-level positions.

Warehouse

Warehouse positions offer a variety of opportunities, such as Material Handler, Picker/Packer, General Labor Warehouse Associate, Forklift Driver, and Shipping/Receiving Clerk. These jobs tend to be physical, and candidates are usually required to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods.

Tow-Motor (Forklift) Operator

Operating a forklift in a production environment requires skill and responsibility. As a forklift operator, you’ll transport equipment and materials, unload/load shipments, secure loads, and maintain the forklift you operate.
