Hey People of the Mid-Willamette Valley! Get out and give this Christmas and make a difference in someone’s life by donating to your favorite local charity! A small difference in your life, may be a life changing difference in another.
There’s a huge need this time of the year for Clothes, Warm Jackets, Socks, Boots/Shoes, Blankets, etc. There are several local charities who accept lightly worn items to give back to the community. You can also donate food to feed the hungry. So get rid of the clutter, whether in your closets, or pantry, and make a difference in someone’s life today!
Where can I Donate?
Below are a few of the many local charities you can give to this season:
UGM- Accepts lightly worn items at their donation center. UGM gives back to the community through their Homeless Shelter Program providing food, clothing, housing and much more! If you’d like to donate your time, this is a great place to serve as well. https://ugmsalem.org/donategoods/
Marion Polk Food Share- Feeds hungry community members, and there are many options of ways to give, including donating canned foods, fresh foods from your gardens, etc. Learn more about ways to give here: https://www.marionpolkfoodshare.org/ways-to-give/
American Red Cross- Make a Blood Donation, and you can help save a life! They are giving out $5 amazon cards with every donation. Find your local Red Cross here: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive
Don’t have any Clutter?
If you would like to donate $$ instead of or in addition to donated unwanted items, here are some resources to consider in addition to the Above Charities:
The Salem Foundation at https://www.salemfoundation.org/giving/
Farmers Ending Hunger- Adopt an Acre program, feeds hundreds of families locally through the Oregon Food Bank. Check it out at http://www.farmersendinghunger.com/adopt-an-acre/
Whether you choose one of these local charities, or contact your favorite local charity, you can make a difference in someone’s life in your community this season through your donation, and no gift is too large or too small.
